A Plan to Save Fenway Park
|
The
Hagenah Plan
Award-winning architect Charles Hagenah's
May 1999 design investigation, commissioned by Save Fenway Park!, demonstrated
that the programmatic and revenue needs of the Boston Red Sox could be
met in a renovated and expanded Fenway Park, by constructing an upper
deck above the grandstand and expanding the public areas behind the stands.
By preserving the field configuration, bleacher section, slope and orientation
of the grandstand, and the park's original facade and entry gates, the
plan maintained Fenway Park's historic character and intimacy. The study
showed conclusively that the renovation option is indeed feasible.
